DIRTY DANCING: The Politics of The Wild West

It's all happening out West with both Labor and Liberal leaders facing ugly sexual harassment claims. Liberal Buswell has admitted sniffing a female employees' chair while Labor's Premier Carpenter has emphatically denied the claims made against him. Despite facing what appears to be very strong demands that he go from the public, some tell the OC that Buswell might actually have the numbers.

OUCH: Labor MP Jaye Radisich has refused to deny that Premier Alan Carpenter lifted her top and exposed her bra to colleagues at a karaoke party four years ago — but the Premier yesterday categorically rejected the accusation.

BAM: Former Liberal leader Paul Omodei quit the party in disgust today at an explosive State Council meeting, where he described his embattled successor Troy Buswell as an unfit leader.

KAPOW: Mr Carpenter is also alleged to have put his face near the breasts of another female colleague at the time.

SPLAT: Ms Pratt denied Mr Carpenter had nuzzled her breasts at the social gathering of Labor caucus in Bunbury, which some had described as “racy” but indicated he may have “looked at” her chest. “Alan Carpenter wouldn’t be the first man to have looked at my breasts,” Ms Pratt said.

CRUNCH: Half of all West Australian voters believe Opposition Leader Liberal leader Troy Buswell should resign following his admission he sniffed the chair of a Liberal staffer, according to a new poll.

WOW: Western Australia Opposition Leader Troy Buswell is confident he will carry the vote on the leadership spill today.Mr Buswell has spent the weekend canvassing his Liberal Party colleagues and he says while they have expressed disquiet over his past behaviour, there is also a lot of support for him.

GOSH: Mrs Buswell said her support for her husband was "rock solid'', that he had never done anything she would be ashamed of... I think it was just a joke that missed the mark. I've known him since I was 16 and he's always had a sense of humour. That's probably one of the reasons people love him so much... I think there's a lot of other people (in parliament) who should be worried, but it doesn't come out,'' she said. "Troy's not corrupt. He's not an adulterer. He hasn't run off with anyone up there, and that's all going on (in parliament). That's why so many good people don't go into politics, because of all the rubbish that goes on."

Game on.
