Another Liberal patriot has stepped up to rebut the assessment about what went down in their campaign in Calwell;
Here is their assessment of things:
SHITE-BITES
Reading your Liberal correspondent's indulgent diatribe, my diagnosis: what a load of shite.
It is well known in Liberal circles out there that McLoughlin's misadventure was totally self-imposed.
The first Di Livett heard about was after a journo from the local paper started ringing around for a comment about his bizarre behaviour. She was gob-smacked but it's really McLoughlin who should have been punched in the mouth.
Macca's performance came right out of left field.
CAN'T DRIVE // IS DRIVEN
Yes, it is true that Di lives in Ashburton and she doesn't drive but that didn't stop her from gaining one of the biggest swings in the nation in the 1990 election and again in 2004. It's worth noting that neither Di nor Finn (her campaign director) were driving in that stunningly successful 1990 campaign. Mixing with real people at bus stops, on trains and in a cab offers a reasonable insight into the populace that might not be available at a Victor Perton Sudanese human rights roundtable.
Some believe that the Finnster lost his campaign mojo in Tullamarine after finally getting his drivers licence.
LOCAL ROOTS
She is a bloody hard worker and has a long-term commitment to that part of Melbourne, having grown up in Keilor and still having strong family ties throughout the region. She's been Chairman of the Calwell FEC for over a decade and president of the Greenvale branch for a little longer.
Finn is easily the most astute campaigner out there and has agreed to be her campaign director because he rates her so highly. She's considerably better than her Labor opposition - OK, not hard I know.
OSAMA BIN KENNETTISTA
It's sad that a couple of disaffected - and entirely discredited - losers have decided to take on the role of the Liberal Party's very own al-Qaeda of the West.
Neither will ever park their more than substantial tails on any parliamentary bench while I'm alive. The Liberal Party is not in the business of rewarding treachery. Well, unless your name is Glenn Milne.
Game on.
