CRISIS: Extreme Left Indymedia Website Shut Down Amid Censorship Row

A shadowy and highly secretive left-wing propaganda site "Indymedia" has recently brutally shut down dissent in what they are describing as the "Brisbane crisis."

Indymedia is a collective of leftists who generally run boring anti George Bush propaganda and sympathetically write about every indulgent lefty cause from Castro to Chavez.

And yet in Brisbane Indymedia, the ugly face of the Left seems to have revealed itself. OC sources have revealed that several leftist activists engaged in racist smears against a Labor moderate Adrian Den Dekker and made claims that other Labor moderate student activists were engaged in every conceivable act of wrong-doing.

Some Labor moderates from Queensland joined the fray, rebutting the false charges and generally engaging in the debate that Indymedia claims to encourage. They gave it out as good as they were getting it, challenging the dominant leftist paradigm with clever argument, wit and insight.

When the Labor moderates refused to be intimidated by Indymedia's ideological thuggery, the leaders of Indymedia pulled the plug on the whole operation. That's right. They shut down the entire Brisbane Indymedia site and deleted its content.

On their website, Indymedia declares:

Notice: Brisbane Indymedia has been disaffiliated from the global Indymedia network due to failures to uphold the IMC principals (sic) of unity. Please read the background information if you have any questions.

They further claim that the site remains archived, but when you do a search you get the following result:

The extreme left merges with the extreme right in its intolerance of dissent, its brutal censorship and self-indulgent conspiracy theories. This is just the latest example.

SO WHO IS INDYMEDIA?

Indymedia in Australia appears to be a well funded and sinister organisation. Despite operating a server in Sydney with no fewer than 255 different "IP addresses", the organisation "Community activist technology" appears to be not registered for GST or to exist in government records anywhere.

Telephone numbers supplied to internet records of domain names appear to be fake. They have recently fled their office premises.
